This Apple Strawberry Smoothie requires only four ingredients, and can be made in minutes. Bright and colorful, this refreshing smoothie is a great way to start your morning!

I have been making smoothies for my children for the past 15 years, first with an old glass jar-type blender and now with my favorite Nutribullet. We started with a classic Strawberry Banana Smoothie, and then started experimenting with more flavors.
Several years ago in the fall, with way too many apples in my fruit bowl, I threw an apple into the blender. Delicious! Great in my Spinach Apple Smoothie (a favorite of mine but not of my girls!) and now with this one. One of the best on-the-go breakfasts and a frequent healthy afternoon snack for my girls.

Why You'll Love this Apple Smoothie Recipe
- Simple ingredients to keep on-hand: I keep honey and coconut water in the pantry, apples in the fruit bowl, and strawberries in the freezer so I can make this anytime.
- Sweet and light
- No dairy milk or yogurt required
- Great way to get your Vitamin C!
🥗 Ingredients

- Frozen Strawberries: Of course you can use fresh strawberries instead if it’s strawberry season. Just note that if you aren’t using any frozen fruit, you’ll need to add some ice cubes to get that slushy smoothie texture.
- Apple: I prefer a sweet/tart version like a Pink Lady or Honey Crisp apple. If you choose a Granny Smith apple, you may need to add more sweetener to your recipe.
- Honey: Maple syrup, agave syrup, or brown sugar can be used as a substitute.
- Coconut Water: For a substitute, try apple juice or white grape juice. For a creamier option, you can use coconut milk.
How to Make an Apple Smoothie
Cut an apple in half, then cut out core and seeds. Chop the remaining apple flesh roughly. Add 1 cup frozen strawberries, apple chunks, and 2 teaspoons honey to a blender jar. Then pour in 1 cup coconut water.

Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides a couple of times as necessary. Pour into glasses and serve.

Optional Add-Ins
Play with flavors by adding different frozen or fresh fruit such as blueberries, raspberries, or chunks of mango. Add nutrients with spinach or kale. Want to add more protein to your smoothie? That can be especially useful if you are using a smoothie for a quick breakfast. Just add protein powder or a scoop of peanut butter or almond butter. You can also bump up the fiber content of your smoothie by adding chia seeds or flax seeds.
👩🍳 Expert Tips
- As long as you have a high-quality, high-speed blender, such as a Nutribullet, you don’t need to peel the apple. If your blender is not so good, you may want to take the peel off for a smoother texture.
- Want a creamier smoothie? Add a banana to your apple and strawberry smoothie. You can also add vanilla yogurt or Greek yogurt (if so, cut down the amount of coconut water to ½ cup). And of course, you can add regular milk or non-dairy milk to your smoothie (replacing the coconut water). Almond milk and oat milk make good substitutes if you want to keep it dairy free.

Strawberry Apple Smoothie FAQs
This smoothie contains honey, which is not considered vegan by many people. But, you can easily make this smoothie vegan by just replacing the honey with maple syrup or agave syrup.
You can make this in advance and store in the refrigerator—however, you will lose some of its slushiness as the frozen strawberries melt. Also, the layers will separate a bit, so you should shake it up before drinking. Still, this is a delicious way to have a healthy snack just ready to go when you want it. Feel free to add ice, and pop it back into the blender to get that slushy texture back.
